Girls' Generation member Sooyoung is in the hospital after getting into a car accident yesterday, according to her agency SM Entertainment on Monday.
SM stated through a press release that Sooyoung was hospitalized yesterday after a car on the lane opposite hers drove over the centerline and ran into the vehicle she was in while she was on her way to a volunteer work event for the visually impaired.
The accident left the idol star with a fractured sacrovertebra for which her doctor has stated she must rest and accordingly, Sooyoung will not be able to join her group for their upcoming activities both locally and internationally for the time being.
Upcoming activities for the girls include SMTOWN's Tokyo concert from September 2 to 4 and their Asia tour this year for which they are set to perform in Taiwan.
They are also working on a new album through which they will make a comeback to the local music scene in the coming months.
Girls' Generation, one of the most well-known female idol groups in Asia, made their debut in Korea in 2007 under SM Entertainment with their first album "Into The New World" and have produced several hit songs including "Gee", "Genie", and "Oh!"
